Bournemouth – The side from the south coast have had a relatively quiet summer so far with only the free signings of Joe Rothwell from Blackburn and Ryan Fredericks from West Ham worth noting. They have however lost veteran Defender Gary Cahill at the end of his deal which seems ridiculous considering his experience in the Premier League which could have been no doubt useful throughout the season.
Arsenal – The Gunners will be hoping to kick on from last season where they ultimately finished in a fairly disappointing 5th place albeit with the youngest squad in the Premier League. Progress has been made however and they’ll hope that trend continues with the new additions of Gabriel Jesus from Man City and Fabio Viera from FC Porto. They will be expected to become consistent top 4 challengers in the coming years.
Aston Villa – Steven Gerrard’s Villa have strengthened particular in the defensive area with the signings of Brazilian international Diego Carlos from Sevilla and also highly rated defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara from Marseille. The Villains have also manage to crucially secure the signings of both Phillipe Coutinho and Robin Olsen on permanent deals after having initially acquiring the two on loan in January. It goes to show the intent which they have coming into this season with the hope of improving on their fairly disappointing finish of 14th last campaign.
Brentford – The Bees have had a fantastic window so far. The acquisition of highly rated left-back Aaron Hickey from Bologna is the type of transfer you’d see the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal pull off. It’s a truly brilliant signing and for only a cut price of around £15 million which in todays inflated market is an absolute steal ! They’ve also added to this with the excellent free transfers of Ben Mee from Burnley and Thomas Strakosha from Lazio. They have lost out on securing Christian Eriksen on a permanent deal to Man Utd but there’s nothing to say they wont improve on their already impressive 13th place finish last season.
Brighton – The seagulls have had a tricky summer so far having lost key play Yves Bissouma to Spurs for only £25 million. His dynamism from midfield will be hard to replace and so far nothing has been done to replace that. They have however made two signings, 18 year old Julio Enciso from Club Libertad from the Paraguayan first division and 20 year old Simon Adingra from FC Nordsjaelland from Denmark’s fist tier. Both fit the profile of unknown youngsters who have high potential and will no doubt improve under Graham Potter.
